More Orca whale sightings! This time at Sucia Island, and later at Patos.

Wow, the fun continues! Wyatt and the Schroeters (another local Bellingham family) had just returned from a day trip to Patos when the T-18s came right by their campsite at Fox Cove on Sucia. The whales were less than 50 feet from the shoreline, probably prowling for young seals. During this month most of the Harbor seal pups are being weaned after a short (one month) nursing period. Consequently there are lots of tasty little morsels around that don't realize that a large black fin means danger.
What a great finish to an already terrific day!

Later that evening Ben called in to tell me that his group, who were camping out on Patos Island, had the perfect sunset by the lighthouse get even better as several large Orca fins pierced the evening light. Whoo Hoo, a double header for AKT!
