Hot Sunny Days of August

Today is the hottest day of the summer, so far. The signpost up the street from our office is reading 91 degrees at 2:00 p.m! It's definitely a good day to get out on the water.

This week has been a lot of fun, we've been sending trips off to Sucia Island, Cypress Island, and of course Burrows Island. Reports keep coming back about the abundance of porpoise calves that are being seen swimming with their mothers. All three Orca whale pods are in and around the San Juans these days, today we have reports of J & K pods up north of Cypress Island. Hopefully Andaria and Blake will get the chance to encounter them on their respective overnight kayaking trips.

We had a fantastic trip on Wednesday with the entire North American Gore-Tex marketing and promotions team. Megan and I paddled out ahead of the crew and set up a salmon barbeque for them at the Burrows Island Lighthouse. The weather was perfect, the food was delicious (thanks Meg), and the folks were terrific. A great big thanks goes out from us to Andre Tiffany for setting it all up. We're looking forward to doing this again!
