Whoo Hoo!! AKT guide Leslie Mix just returned from her BCU assessment down on the lower Columbia River and earned herself the 4-Star Leader Award. This qualifies her to lead kayak expeditions anywhere in the world under the specifications set forth by the British Canoe Union. The BCU is recognized around the world as the leading organization for paddlesport skills training and coaching development. Leslie's accomplishment is no small feat, under the revised system a 4-Star leader award is quite difficult to earn, and it puts her just one step away from the coveted 5-Star award which is the highest level of qualification that can be earned.
Needless to say we're very proud to have her on staff. Great job Leslie!

Next month most of our guides will be taking part in a week long BCU coach training course put together by Body Boat Blade International and led by Bill Lozano, owner of Atlantic Kayak Tours
and the Administrator of the British Canoe Union North America.

Megan and I are pretty darned pleased with our staff's level of commitment to the sport. Way to go guys!
